How to Edit and Handle Images Without Using Photoshop

These days, one of the joys the Internet can bring to people are online or web-based applications. There are several for writing and collaboration (more on these in later posts) and there are many for editing pictures. The latter saves us from launching Photoshop on our computers, which, depending on the system, can take some time, not to mention that it consumes so much of the computer’s memory.

We’ve been experimenting with two such online photo editors: Phixr and Resizr. Both are free to use, although they are ad-supported, which is fine. They perform basic photo-editing tasks, such as resizing, cropping, brightness and contrast adjustments, etc.

I doubt very much that online photo editors can take the place of Photoshop but they can be quite useful.
