6 Ways to Tell If Your Nokia Phone Is Fake

Nokia Philippines warned consumers last week that fake Nokia phones are proliferating in the market. These fake phones — Nokia N81, Nokia 5310, Nokia N95, Nokia N82, Nokia 6120, to name some — are usually sold in sidewalks or stalls, those that sell “GSM” (Galing sa Magnanakaw) phones.

Nokia Philippines enumerates ways to tell if the Nokia phone you are buying is not genuine.

1) If the price of the phone is way cheap. According to Nokia, the price of a fake phone is usually half or a third of the original.

2) Fake phones tend to weigh lighter than original ones.

3) Fake phones usually don’t have the blue 12-month limited warranty sticker on the box.

4) Fake phones usually don’t have the “Nokia Care” tamper-proof warranty sticker on the charger, battery, memory card or data cable. If they do have the sticker, chances are this is poorly printed.

5) Genuine Nokia phones have a tamper-proof label at the back. This also includes the National Telecommunications Commission logo and the type acceptance number. There’s also the Nokia tamper-proof warranty seal.

6) Genuine Nokia phones have batteries that have a hologram label that reflects the Nokia “Connecting Hands” slogan and the “Original Enhancements” log. When the hologram is slanted to the left, right, down, and up of the logo, there should be 1, 2, 3 and 4 dots on each side. (Plugged/PinoyPress)

Damn ?!? How could anyone buy a fake for real!?!
Yes, those dummy phones are easily recognised,
as they are light and have a printed piece of
paper instead of a real lcd screen.
Don’t get yourself fooled, always insist to
see the phone powered-on before buying !!!!

fake phones are the same with fake anything. if it is marketed as a genuine device, and its not, its FAKE. The price is always the giveaway. no one would sell a n95-4 for $300

Hi. Just asking…

  8. aside from the given information above…is there any other way that i can easily recognized if the phone is a fake or a real one? thanks…

the phone is fake if it is just a toy.. they would say your phone is fake bcoz its not the original manufacturer but it doest mean its fake..we would rather say it is “pirated”

I fully agree with what chaoz says there’s no such thing as fake phone or fake nokia phone for that matter. Take for instance there are lots of nokia 3120 around that is lighter than the other but still fully functional and you will not say that it is fake. you can find most in pawnshops selling it half the price. e.g. P3500 for 3120. not bad at all

how can we assure that the phone we are buying are genuine? the Nokia stickers can easily be reprinted even the NTC. are there any ways to tell that the nokia phone we are going to buy is genuine aside from the stickers, the price or the hologram of the battery?

is the rp goverment is aware of this kung oo, bakit madami ako nakikitang sa mga kalyeng fake na cellphone. tapos meron talagang fake phones, oo nga syempre lahat naman na cellphone nakakatawag, nakakatxt dahil minsan nararamdaman ko mga filipino kasi minsan kung anu ang nakakita ng cellphone bibilhin uli na di man lamang titingnan kung safe ba yan o hindi, labag ba yan sa batas o hindi (yung mga fake phones talaga labag yan sa batas dahil minsan linalagyan nilang titulo na galing sa isang companya pero hindi naman tapos kung meron nangyari doon sa cellphone yung companya yung inaabala hindi yung gumawa). pero sana man yung gobyerno man meron ginawa.

  13. Folks I have used a Nokia 4ne for many years. A FAKE 4NE IS LIKE A FAKE CURRENCY NOTE. If u r used to handling cash, u cant miss recognising a fake note. Same with Nokia 4nes:1) You have to switch it on if u are acquainted with the steps and procedure of any Nokia 4ne. 2)Text and features are easily recognisable if u r Nokia user.Lay out is always familiar.(Lay out and font design of fake Nokias is easily recognised).Always first switch on and peruse the menu of a Nokia be4 u buy it.
3)Check the WARRANTY CODE- *#92702689# (*#WAR0ANTY#)- which displays: serial no., mfd date, purchase date blank, repaired blank & life timer. *#0000# will show software version + date installed,RH & language. 4)Battery is bit trick bse fraudsters are becoming clever every day and are narrowing in on the hologram trick. Otherwise genuine hologram must be brownish green definite and stand out on left and right tilt of battery. GOOD LUCK GUYS.
